Dr Andrew Appiah-Baiden

Dr Andrew Appiah-Baiden is a dedicated neurosurgeon at Melomed who specialises in Adult Neuro-Oncology, Neurospine, and Neurotrauma. With a strong background in neurosurgery, Dr Appiah-Baiden is committed to providing exceptional care to his patients.

Dr Appiah-Baiden graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2013, where he was also honoured as a member of the Golden Key Academic Society, which recognises academic excellence. After his graduation, he completed his internship and community service, followed by a year as a general surgery medical officer in Johannesburg’s East Rand.

His journey in neurosurgery began at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban in 2018, where he served as a medical officer. In 2020, Dr Appiah-Baiden advanced to a neurosurgery registrar at UCT, engaging in a significant MMed research project that focused on the demographics and outcomes of paediatric patients with severe traumatic brain injuries. His dedication and rigorous academic pursuit led to him passing his final neurosurgical examinations and obtaining his FC Neurosurg (SA) qualification in the second semester of 2023.

Practising at Melomed Hospitals, Dr Appiah-Baiden’s academic interests continue to lie in Adult Neuro-Oncology, Neurospine, and Neurotrauma. His profound commitment to these specialities and his zeal for enhancing neurosurgical care enrich his contributions to the medical community.
